Prof. Dr. Toshihiko Toida earned his degree in Analytical Pharmaceutical Chemistry in 1978 from the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chiba University, where he also completed his Ph.D. in Bio-analytical Chemistry in 1983.
From 1983 to 1989, he served as a Research Associate and Lecturer in the Department of Biochemistry at Teikyo University, College of Medicine, focusing on the structure and function of acidic glycosphingolipids.
In 1989, Dr. Toida returned to Chiba University as an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, dedicating his research to the structure and function of glycosaminoglycans and proteoglycans. He was promoted to Professor in 2003.
Dr. Toida’s primary research interests center on the structures and physiological functions of sulfated polysaccharides derived from natural products, particularly their effects on the immune system when administered orally.
