In 2017, Mr. Winai was diagnosed with an intestinal obstruction caused by colorectal cancer. Following colorectal surgery, pathology confirmed terminal-stage colorectal cancer, which had metastasized to his liver and lymph nodes. Given the advanced stage and his age, chemotherapy was deemed too aggressive by his doctor. Instead, it was recommended that Mr. Winai return home with symptomatic treatment and monitoring. When asked about his prognosis, the doctor estimated a life expectancy of three years.

A month after his diagnosis, Mr. Winai began taking Sang Hwang mushroom products from Amazing Grace. He continued this regimen for three weeks before starting chemotherapy. Remarkably, his overall health improved significantly—he regained weight, energy, and strength. Having previously dropped from 93 kg to 63 kg due to his illness, he began to recover physically, regaining lost weight.
